Antique Sofa Set: 1 Sofa, 2 Armchairs, 2 Armless Chairs, Natural Springs, Restored with French Lyon Silk Fabric, Chair House Kamiyanagi Hand-finished and restored by Hiromi Kamiyanagi of Chair House. Maker: The late Hiromi Kamiyanagi ISUHOUSE is a company with a history of over 50 years, founded by the previous generation and approximately 60 years ago. Furthermore, the founder has received the title of "Contemporary Master Craftsman," the Yellow Ribbon Medal of Honor from the Japanese government, and has had an audience with His Majesty the Emperor, receiving official recognition from the nation. The seats are made with individual springs for exceptional comfort. Each spring is carefully considered in terms of its direction, angle, and tension, and is handcrafted. After 100 years, it becomes known as an antique and its value increases. ISUHOUSE Creating Antiques for 100 Years from Now Louis XV Style - Traditional Upholstery Garnissage traditionnel Our Philosophy In France, during the reign of Louis XV, why do the Rococo style chairs loved by the nobility continue to fascinate people even 300 years later? The answer lies in the unseen internal structure. We deliberately abandon the efficiency and mass production of modern furniture, instead creating chairs using the same philosophy, materials, and processes as in the 1700s. Coil springs bound with horsehair, coconut fiber, and hemp rope. These are layered by hand by skilled craftsmen using traditional upholstery techniques (Garnissage traditionnel). This is not merely furniture. It is a **cultural asset** designed to be called an antique 100 years from now. ISUHOUSE delivers "French court culture" and "100 years of peace of mind." Four reasons why it is authentic: ① A structure made of natural materials, built with 100 years in mind. The urethane (petroleum-derived material) used in many modern chairs deteriorates and crumbles from the inside after 10-20 years. ISUHOUSE employs a traditional structure where coil springs are bound in a figure-eight pattern with hemp rope, and layers of coconut fiber and horsehair are stacked. With proper maintenance, it can be used for over 100 years. We propose chairs not as disposable items, but as **assets** to be passed down through generations. ② The enveloping comfort of horsehair only Horsehair is a top-quality material with excellent elasticity, durability, and moisture absorption/release properties. Craftsmen adjust the spring tension down to the millimeter and build up the horsehair to create a deep, embracing feeling that can never be replicated by industrial products. It is comfortable even when sitting for long periods, and becomes more comfortable with use. ③ A once-in-a-lifetime encounter The upholstery uses precious mohair from a long-established maison in Lyon, France. Every chair that is completed is a one-of-a-kind piece in the world. If you miss this moment, you will never encounter another chair with the same look. ④ A hand-painted finish that develops over time Unlike "Rococo-style furniture" that merely imitates the decoration, ISUHOUSE chairs are authentic from the structure up. The elegant curves of the Louis XV style are enhanced by a multi-layered lacquer finish applied by skilled brushwork. With age, the patina deepens, developing the character of an antique. Aftercare and Ordering As a Lifelong Partner We offer reupholstering after 50 years and restoration after 100 years. The maker takes responsibility for the future—that's ISUHOUSE's promise. Delivery Because every step is done by hand by a single craftsman, it takes approximately 1-2 months to complete. Each chair is finished with care, becoming a **"future antique"**. For Those Hesitating to Purchase —Frequently Asked Questions— Q1. To be honest, I feel the price is high. That's a very natural feeling. ISUHOUSE chairs are not just everyday "chairs." They are made with the assumption of 100 years of use, using the same materials and processes as in the 1700s, and crafted by a single craftsman over 1-2 months. If you're looking for a chair you'll replace every 10 years, our chairs aren't for you. This is the kind of chair you might only own once in your lifetime. Q2. Can it really last 100 years? Yes. Under certain conditions, it's definitely possible. Modern polyurethane chairs have a short lifespan because the material itself deteriorates over time. ISUHOUSE chairs are made from materials that "change" rather than deteriorate: * Coil springs bound with hemp rope * Coconut fiber * Horsehair With regular reupholstering and repairs, chairs from 200-300 years ago are still in use in Europe. Q3. Is the seating comfort better than modern chairs? It's not just "better," it's completely different. Unlike polyurethane, which relies on softness to compensate, the horsehair and springs support the body "a surface, not just points." Some people may feel a slight stiffness at first, but the more you use it, the more it conforms to your body, and after a few years, many say they "can't go back to other chairs." Q4. Won't it become outdated when trends change? Trendy chairs become outdated when the trend ends. However, chairs with a distinctive style increase in value over time. The Louis XV style is a design that has remained in use for 300 years. Not a trend, but a form chosen through history. That is the Rococo chair. Q5. What if it breaks or gets damaged? ISUHOUSE will repair it. We take responsibility as manufacturers for reupholstering after 50 years and structural restoration after 100 years. We don't "sell and forget"; we manufacture furniture with the intention of it being a lifelong companion. Q6. Who is this chair suitable for? * For those who are no longer satisfied with mass-produced goods * For those who view furniture not as "consumption" but as "inheritance" * For those who want to leave a story behind it for their children and grandchildren Conversely, * For those who prioritize price * Not recommended for those who want to redecorate every few years. Q7. Finally, a message to myself who is still undecided This chair may not be something you "need right now." However, it will be a chair you will definitely remember at some point in your life. 100 years from now, someone will be stroking this chair and saying, "This is the chair that person chose." ISUHOUSE is created with such a future in mind.
